What Types of Benefits Are Available?
Temporary disability is offered for injured employees who are taken out of work by the workers’ compensation doctor for 7 days or more. Weekly income benefits (TTD payments) are 2/3 of your “average weekly wage.” However, these benefits cap at a certain amount and you cannot exceed a maximum weekly amount under the law. Because these benefits are temporary, they will only last until you return to work, until the authorized workers’ comp. doctor states in writing that you are able to return to work without work restrictions, until the maximum number of weeks allowed by law, or until you (preferably through your workers’ comp. attorney) successfully negotiate settlement of your claim with the workers’ comp. insurance company.
